We all know that agents, buyers and sellers can sometimes be driven absolutely nuts trying to close escrow.
It takes a rare seller, however, to try to use a mental disability to get out of a sale.
Teles agent Pegi DiRenzo recently told her closing story from hell to the Wall Street Journal. It starts with a wealthy, successful, and by all appearances, normal seller who’s all set to seal the deal. The buyers sell their house, pack up, and all but pull up to move in when the seller shows up with the most unexpected doctor’s note in history.
It turns out that “not selling by reason of insanity” may be a perfectly legal defense to get out of a sale. Still, the intrepid DiRenzo made it work for everyone…eventually.
